View Full Version : Landscape, coast

I am doing various experiments to get more confident with ArtRage and with myself too :)

A while ago I sketched a nude (here is the link in this same forum (http://www2.ambientdesign.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26531)) and I thought I could try to paint a landscape using more or less the same approach.

On the nude I spent a lot more time using the palette knife, while here I experimented mainly with the custom brushes (emm, stickers) I am developing.

I went maybe a bit too much abstract (to the point that I was flattening and losing the whole lanscape), so I clarify it is a coast view :) I hope you like it, have a nice painting people! :)

Nice, I like it. Has that early morning fogged in feel.

I like it. I feel as though I'm looking through a window upon a cold day. :)

Hi Andrea,
I like the palette you've used, but I think it got a little overworked and has ended up loosing the definition, so it reads more like a backdrop for something that is not there yet, (probably a nude :))
I loved the 'grunge' brushes that you've used to add layers. Very exciting graphically.

thanks to everyone! :)

@flyashy : your comment is very correct mate, it is too much overworked -- luckily I stopped before I washed out the whole landscape ahah :D -- and I am glad you appreciate the custom brush work, since experimenting with the new ones I created was the main reason behind this sketch :):)

Molto bello! Le macchie spruzzate e le scolature sono un tocco di classe addizionale!

Unusual, and unique-I like it. It makes me feel as if I was standing in a cave looking out through a wall of ice. :)

Looks like something a Hudson River School (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Colman_Storm_King_on_the_Hudson.jpg) artist would have painted on a foggy morning! Very moody and mysterious.

Andrea, besides you knowing that this has been overworked, I think there is much potential in this piece. The color palette is beautiful and lends the feeling of coolness and peacefulness. The added touch of the "grudging" or custom brush work is unique and adds such a delightful charm to this piece. Continue with what your doing and to get familiar with using all of the tools especially your custom brushes and you'll be creating master pieces in no time!!! :)
