View Full Version : Glitter gun fantazy thread

04-19-2006, 09:14 AM
hello ppl this thread is ment to explore one of the coolest weapons of ArtRage2 -The glitter gun (muhaha :))) )

the rules are simple :
1. the subject is "fantazy creatures"
2. pencil can be used for the initial sketch
but the final project must be "glitter gunned" only !
3. have fun!!!

i'm posting my "king of the forest" late late at night work :)

04-19-2006, 10:34 AM
Holy guacamole!
That's really impressive. It looks so... deeply textured. Like an actual physical thing.
I love it. And it's a really cool idea for a thread too!

04-19-2006, 02:03 PM
What a wonderful idea and contribution. I look forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with.

I really should be working... Thanks, fir3drag0n, this was loads of fun. =]

Here's why AndyRage never posts images....

The original picture is done at 1920 x 1600. I should have started smaller!
So here's my contribution - an angry evil snowman on a rampage. Done entirely in glitter (except for the initial sketch).

04-20-2006, 12:13 AM
Andy... oh come on -- you can even tell what the picture is! Once this next patch is out, you draw us all an evil Easter Bunny!

04-20-2006, 12:32 AM
lot of inner rage you got AndyRage cool idea dough :)

04-20-2006, 12:56 AM
Lol! Brilliant stuff, Andy.

Trust me! In Western Europe the title is meaningful.
Fun to do anyway.

04-20-2006, 08:22 AM
weird...i thought i posted mine....well....heres my 'creature' again.....

04-20-2006, 08:36 AM
I hope you can guess what this is supposed to be!

04-20-2006, 08:52 AM
It looks sorta like sand-art.
Or like looking at a print on carpet. Or something.

04-20-2006, 10:58 AM
I agree, it looks like sand art to me too, and I think it works really well.

Enchanter, it's funny how the poor bunny rabbit lends itself so well to genetic mutation, eh? =]

Ha! The glitter dragon is great! NewCube, I love the eyes, and um... is it wearing lipstick? =]

Aged P... Wow. I mean, wow. You've created a gloriously beautiful scene, glitter tool or no glitter tool. The sky gradient, the reflection on the water, the trees, the colour palette, it's all just really well conceived and put together.

Thanks, everyone!

04-20-2006, 02:16 PM
These look great! Andy you big liar, you told us all you couldn't draw!

04-20-2006, 02:47 PM
What a crazy thread. I like them all, the variety, the creativity just fun!

Andy your secret is out now.

04-20-2006, 04:01 PM
I couldn't resist. I saved myself some time by tracing a background I painted in Photoshop a few years back. The critter I did tonight. All that glitters is... Um.... glitter. :D

04-20-2006, 04:29 PM
This is gorgeous! I love the contrast between deep, rich colours in the background and the brighter palette of your critter. It appears almost luminescent! I could totally see this as a nice velvet tapestry hanging on my wall.

04-20-2006, 04:39 PM
Man, you guys knock my socks off.
Very cool stuff.

04-20-2006, 04:57 PM
heehh cool drawings guys!! really fun!

04-21-2006, 05:36 AM
those all were really cool,......Fashmir....i agree with Gita....., the dark background, with a hint of foliage and then the stark blue flying baby fairy dragon thing is brilliant,

Gita....Bunny Rabbits have hidden genes in them ..and oncce in a while....you get to see their true identities

This glitter thread is fun!

04-21-2006, 10:52 PM
Awesome, Sweedie. Very cool character. And I still love the texture of these glitter works.

04-22-2006, 01:37 PM
Sweedie. That's great. Alot of personality there.

04-24-2006, 11:51 AM
Wow! love the art work, it's awesome, I love this thread! I painted some flowers using the glitter gun then realized it had to be a creature! so I posted those in the gallery and drew some dragons of course. Her is the first one, after I was done I realized I'd forgotten wings!

04-24-2006, 11:59 AM
OK, here is the second one and of course I had to try metallic! I like this one alot. of course I didn't do the backgrounds in glitter, sorry.

04-24-2006, 12:00 PM
Wow, beadie09 - those two dragons are fantastic!

They go really well on the metalic paper background too. So rich and lively!

04-24-2006, 12:09 PM
Those are cool dragons (I love dragons especially). I love that the Rage team has created a tool that is now out in the world and new artforms like this one are coming to light. I don't believe I have ever seen a collection such as that in this thread. Keep posting your glitter critters people. This thread is fun.

04-24-2006, 01:47 PM
I am so loving this glitter gun, you can do so much with it. at first I was thinking glitter gun, I'll never use that, but you can get some great textures with it! anyway, another dragon, I tried to do some background but it was too distracting. ok, after this I promise to draw something else!

04-24-2006, 04:08 PM
so cool beadie09!

04-24-2006, 04:10 PM
Beadie09 those dragons are really cool. It looks like they're actually jewel-encrusted - rubies, emeralds, and various others. As well as being fantastic figures, the glitter has given them a really great texture.

04-24-2006, 04:46 PM
Some of these glitter images reminds me a small colored stirefoam pieces that has been broken up and sprinkled into nice shapes over a flat surface........ :)

04-25-2006, 11:17 AM
hey, thanks andyrage, fashmir,sbug51,sethren, I absolutely love dragons, can you tell? I work in glass now, but I can't get the glass to do the same things my pen can! and no way can I make a non metallic dragon now, I'll have to try in regular paint, not glitter, but the metallic really makes the dragon for me!
thanks for a great art tool!

05-06-2006, 10:07 AM
Serena, the last dragon you posted is my favourite of the three. I think it really shows the evolution of your mastery of the tool. Great stuff!

- Gita

05-10-2006, 03:18 AM
Hi Andy- love the snow man! Bears a striking resemblance to a neighbor of ours- ha ha! I have to join in on the fun here and try this!

05-15-2006, 07:10 AM
There's some briliant beasties on here, and it's fun to see what people can do with the glitter gun.

For my attempt, another little dragony thing.

05-15-2006, 08:53 AM

ooh jiilin- i like him hes very warm and festive :)

07-14-2006, 06:54 AM
Okay, I decided to give this a try.

I made two images back-to-back because I didn't like how the first one turned out.

At the end of it all, I'm still not sure how I feel about the tool. It's certainly a unique look, but odd to work with.

Anyhow, here they are in order:

07-14-2006, 04:59 PM
This gallery is increadible. When I read the title "Glitter Art" I didn't expect to the kind of work I just witnessed. Very cool!

07-14-2006, 06:22 PM
Collin, your second character looks a bit erm.. disgruntled. Is he not happy with the glitter tool? =)

Good stuff.

07-14-2006, 07:53 PM
Originally, the glitter tool was put in as a 'shiny thing' for kids to use, and for me to test out the lighting blowout on metalics.
But it can also give a nice texture to painted images.

I was passing an art shop here in Auckland, and noticed they were selling images (landscapes and the like) made up of glitter and coloured sand and other textured media. It seriously looked like ArtRage glitter art!

07-18-2006, 07:58 AM
yeahhh i get the full version now....
and the glitter thing is just amazing!

my first:

07-19-2006, 12:28 AM

ok all its a try at a dragonette its a bit scrappy but im not too unhappy as its my first punt at the glitter tool

07-27-2006, 08:14 AM
