This is one of the recent portrait I work from photo. Mostly oil and art pen then knife. Apply "sweet dream" filter at the end but because of the canvas texture, it didn't show much but it's good to soften the paint overall. Still experimenting the steps.

Aww.Hanzz..wow..thanks so much for the quick response and the kind words. :) Yes, the lighting and the face spent a little bit longer but still only took around 2 hours shorter than the one from imagination.

An impressively good portrait of a nice lady. Your friend must have liked it very much for sure!

Thanks Paul, Katie and Caesar for the kind words. :) Yes, she likes it but I am not that satisfied yet. Still haven't got the right ways/steps to do it as I like and faster the process. I am not good at work straight from photos but it's a good practice again which I haven't done for awhile.

It's new try to use the Art Pen tool for blending which I learned from Misterpaint. Just want to get out the comfort zone and use all different tools to see what is the difference during the process. Pai, that is just a tremendous painting.

01-21-2010, 04:55 PM
May i ask Pai, what do you mean by a "sweet dream" filter?

01-21-2010, 05:02 PM
Thanks so much Evart and barnburner for looking in and liking it.

This is a filter provided by our Misterpaint's contribution, please look at this link:

It soften the image which I think people who use photo editing programs (eg. photoshop) has this plug-in. It's my first try on filter when AR3 has this new features. Quite intersting. But please also read Juz's explanation of it may possible cause crash but I live with it if I want some fun on the image.

Hope it helps. :)
