While I was waiting for inspiration, trying to think of something original, I busied myself with one of the places where I grew up. This is, of course, idealized, but then again, I am an artist.

Sandy-Alex- Thanks so much. This was supposed to be just a little landscape, but turned into a deceptively complicated piece. This is where a buddy and I used to go to catch minnows and tadpoles when we were kids.

What a beautiful place and painting, Skylar! I just love your choice of colors - the browns, golds and yellows....it just seems to bring such richness to the whole painting.

Great work Skylar and what a beautiful place to spend your childhood.
Lovely palette.

Excellent work. I think going back and trying to paint places from your childhood is really difficult to get accurate. Well done.

Skylar, that was a lovely story as well. Made me think of how we used to ride our bikes down a couple of miles away to a creek to watch the tadpoles and walk in the cool water on a hot summer day.:) Those were the days, huh?

A beautiful place to grow up and a beautiful painting! Love the colors and the mood! I get the feeling the memory you painted was of a much simpler life remembered through a child's mind. A heart felt painting LSB! Well done!:D:D:D

Very nice!
Thanks for posting the youtube vid! The music went well with the theme of 'memory'. It sent chills up my spine watching the way that picture unfolded :D

There is something fascinating about tadpoles to the young, curious mind. I know I spent a fair amount of time catching them and then trying to raise them in my own local habitats. Once I actually got one all the way to frog. It was cool watching it go through all the stages of sorta having a tail, just like in the science books.

This image is really well done. The whole has this glowing happiness exuding from every detail. I think I could come to enjoy living in your past. :)

As You may possibly say overseas: "a darn good job (and artpiece)!":D
Hope it's right ...;)

Sketch - Childhood memories are often softened by time. All the rough gets polished away by time.
Ev & Viv - Thanks so much. The music is Nino Rota's theme from Fellinni's Amarcord.
Gray - I think a lot of my childhood was one science experiment after another. You can visit here whenever you like!
Caesar, Paul, Coops - Thanks so much for the comments.

Skylar your painting is a beauty. I liked the animation that you always do in a very didactic way. Congratulations on your beautiful work.

Quality work, Skylar, it is a wonderful pic to look at... it won't let one leave easily....and it bears brightly your signature.

Oriane - Thank you so much. I try to impart some of the process involved in producing the image - it doesn't always go step by step, but I think it still informs.
AT-TA - Thanks so much. I think you're right on this one - it does have a lot of my ear-mark.
