My goodness. This is one of those that is so good you don't know where to start. It's painterly in an old-masters sort of way. The olives are divinely rendered with spot on gorgeous color, with the oil that saturates them masterfully illusioned. The stone container they sit in is a perfect contrasting but complementary offset. It's a beautiful painting in every way. Yes, it would be wonderful to understand your technique. :)

I've never lived anywhere that was hospitable to olive trees, but I'd love to visit....

I'm glad you wrote it was olives, because it looked like...well, you know. :D It looks realistic though :)
