Hi, everyone artrage users.

I was fishing and there was old base of house. I get the idea, paint the house that base. Everyone of this world live some kind of house. So, i take the photo and open this art project to that kind of painting. If you are interesting to take part, and use perhaps artrage, paint a house, imagine house, fantasy house, futuristic, scientific, rock, wood, glass, cloud,,,,,small, big, flat, magic,,,imagination  and style is free. My wish is that you fit and put your paint house on this photos building base,,,, no must but if you want.

My thought is that house pixpainting is not so easy. Let see, i start to make one. :?

Welcome take part of this house project. :D

Heikki.

Where I come from a foundation like that would be seen because of a forest fire.

What kind of thing destroyed this one do you think, heikki?

Hi, DAk.

I dont know this history, seem that it was a log-house (if term log is right those old pinewood houses). And old log-houses need to keep care against moisture and rotten. If take care it can work 100-200 year. If dont it rotten 20-50 years. So my thought is that there is noone lives many years and then it rotten. (Rotten, hmm perhaps is right translate, because finnish word rotta=rat and english rotten is near, some finnish word base is english.) Not only one empty house-base in Finland countryside because peopple moves cityes or other countryes after 1960-century.

I put this tips-sketch to see that the house-base is easy to get out from the photo by using grain-tracing and that new-inverse button selection which is near that grain button. And using chalk tool 10-15%, mouse operation.

Gotta admit, that was a small house, but it was fun to do. Now....my challenge is still on - Halloween is just around the corner, so, if'n ya wanna, go to my web site, pick one or two or more black and while line drawings and have fun - love to see what you all do, and the top one gets a special medallion from me. Its all in fun!

You say you're having trouble with perspective. I understand this concept - bird's eye view (in the air) worm's view (from the ground up) and human view (eye level with the object). One thing I have found that works for me, is a book on the subject. At your local art shop - where you buy all sorts of art supplies and books and such, they have a book that will work wonders for you on this subject - Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain. There is a work book available - and Part III The Perception of Relationships Exercise 20 - Sighting an open door way is excellent for this.

If you wish to order this book online - ISBN 1-58542-195-2
Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain
by Jeremy P. Tarcher/Putnam.
In the U.s. $17.95/Can $25.99
This is a great workbook, and spending a single evening just on that one exercise will pay for the book - I think its worth it.

If this is too much, may I recommend About.com! They have a section on Graphic Arts and you may be able to derive something from their site.

Let me know how you come along. If nothing else, I may be able to photocopy/scan a section of my work book for you, so you can work it up.

One thing I tell people who have the talent but need some instruction as I did, and still take classes - you can't know all you need to know in art in the first 5 seconds. Even the best, finest artists such as Michaelangelo/Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh - they all took art classes. They were driven to learn but they had to have instruction.

If not for the Medici family who backed the art world in the 1700's, we would still be in the dark ages. They opened a university for artists, and even insisted the university include with art instruction, the sciences, languages, history and all other academic courses to round out the art student's knowledge. 70% of all the world's finest art was collected by the Medici family and displayed in Florence, Italy.

My dream is to go to Florence. But until then, here I sit learning every day.

Love to hear from you.

Hi Lynda and Heikki,

The book is available via Harper Collins in Europe.
Betty Edwards
Publisher Jeremy Tarcher

New version and work books available from Amazon.

I bought it about 10 years ago.
It's in front of me now, a great book as Linda says.
The essential guide to most drawing problems.
