Another one surviving the WIP section. The blue in these birds is almost unnatural. Thanks for checking it out!:)

Excellent painting, Sketch. Did you use the fur brush for the blue feather. Beautiful bird and that blue color. :)

Hang on a minute....I need to catch my breath!!!! Oh my, oh my....OH MY!!!! You talked about my painting, Sketch...!!

When I saw your WIP, I knew this was going to be a real beaut but when I opened this thread, I still wasn't prepared for this stunning piece and the beauty and realism of it simply took my breath away.... <as I am on my knees bowing to the master>!

Like Juz, I love that blurred (macro) effect on the background...it really helps bring the bird closer to one's eye.

Yes, the colors of these birds are truly amazing. What intrigues me most is how they know each other and know each other's sounds. Bird lover here, and I love your painting Eddie. It is brilliant and a masterpiece!:)

Hi Eddie, and Happy New Year.

The painting is out of this world good. I enjoyed following in the wip where from the get-go it was clear you had another masterpiece on your hands. The post here bares it out. The color, the work on the feathers, his posture - it's all beautiful. Even the branch he sits on is spot on. And great use of that blur blender, the depth you achieve sets the bird off magically. Great painting to wrap up 2009 and usher in 2010. :):):):):)

Hey Sketch- Nice bird. One of my favorite birds. We have them in Oregon/Washington as well. I like your focal depth effect.

Thank you Jasminek :D! There are thousands of different styles to choose from when painting wildlife, fur or feathers. Each unique and interesting. I mess around with different tools on different settings quite a bit until I get a satisfactory result. My favorite is the crayon tool... I used it on the feathers on this bird. "The fun of digital art...eh"!

Thanks for checking it out iceaxe:D

Thank you Bumble! I was thinking about you as I started on that branch and was a little happy it was just a branch and not an entire tree trunk like the one you tackled in your squirrel painting (which turned out fantastic!) Thank you for checking it out!:D
