after one overlay that i used just to soften up the rough or hard edges and to adjust tonality a little... afraid to over work the thing so i leave it at this.

Nice portrayal of the Drover, Jim. Very expressive.
Keep those doggies moving, head them up round them out, Rawhide!
(Rember that one?)

There's no such thing as overworking something permanently - as would be the case with real paint.

Have you gotten the ArtRage Update yet?

You can now glaze and glaze. You can really thin the oils down to extremely thin, and it glazes in the faintest subtle increments all the way up to opacity.

Moreover, the new layering features would eliminate any problem with overworking. Try it on a layer and if you like it keep it, and if not delete that layer.

And there, as always, is undo, and/or making multiple copies.

I think this one was begging for the upgrade to happen before you could go farther.

Unless you're bored with this particular painting, I think you could easily take it to the place you originally wanted it. My opinion is that you might want to work up the face a bit more, if nothing else.

I believe it would be valuable as an artist to find out what's behind door number two and the curtain. :D

Nice thing about it is, if you save backups along the way, you would never get stuck with the booby prize.

Hi Jim,

Wondeful painting. Such a lively look to the face.
