Wanted to capture two seemingly incompatible aspects of a breaking wave...it's graceful delicacy, and it's awesome power.
Done on ArtRage with acrylic, palette knife, and pencil tools.

Like the paintings title and subject, it too has grace and power. Very well done. :)

Was this done in ArtRage or real media? You mention Acrylic, so I'm guessing real media???

Either way it's an awesome painting.

What a masterful depiction of the strength and force of the ocean's waves. Excellent job...you have a true ability to capture this with paint and brush!!! :)

Thanks to all for the wonderful comments...and to clear up a little confusion, it was done on ArtRage with the brush tools I mentioned. I'm a single dad of 2 young (ACTIVE!!) boys living in a tiny house, so REAL paints, brushes and canvas are out of the question at the moment...lol.
Thanks again

so it was done with oils, and not acrylic. amazing job. how long did it take you to paint this? also you really should do a tutorial on this painting or a painting of water. really great job!!

Crashingly, smashingly, thunderously, dangerously, dynamically beautiful.

Very powerful image. So much color within a relatively limited palette.

Amazing Painting, i can feel the waves, congratulations on gaining a well deserved spotlight :D

Oh and welcome to the forums, there has been so many new members i'm only just starting to catch up, i hope you enjoy your stay and look forward too many more artworks from you.

Just thinking aloud, if this painting was full size i would probably spend some money to buy it, i ain't rich but i would spend within my budget, i love the strong looking waves and stormy seas :D

Stunning and masterfully painted. Those waves look so powerful the way you painted the depth and light in it. Beautiful. :)

very nice painting... it reminds me of when I use to fish on the high seas...
I love the way light reflects and refracts through the water.

Great job!

A powerful work of art... my only gripe is that the level of detail off in the distance (the horizon) is off. Doesn't match the incredible detail of the foreground waves.

Actually, I think the detail is just right... the human eye doesn't see perfect detail at all ranges of focus... and the focus here is on the forward wave. As an artist you really don't want the same level of detail all over your image (generally speaking, of course).
