Heres a set of grains i've been using recently. They are all from scans of various pieces of Japanese paper. They are all high resolution images mostly 2500x2900 pixels 300dpi
Download the set from here - http://www.mediafire.com/?mmm2wjtuium

These are really nice. Is there a chance you can photograph some images of Japanese papers with decorative woodblock prints and pressed flowers, plants, and insects?

Isn't it the ones that can easily be tear apart? I tried using it for Ikebana but I failed.

Yeah, that's why I was wondering if there was someone who had the resources to kindly make some artrage templates out of those. I'm too afraid to actually buy that paper and use it, because I know my heavy painting/drawing hand would rip right through them.

ArtRage3 + Watercolor + Japanese paper = perfect combo:)

Okay, I am still learning, but how can you use these? Do you import them, and does the color of the canvas come too or is it just the texture? Do you get good texture like you are actually drawing on the paper itself? Just plenty of questions from me if you don't mind.

DMerchen - You can find a quick guide here on how to use canvas grains from the forum:

http://www2.ambientdesign.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18574

ArtRage uses the texture only currently, so you won't get the colour, but you can choose your canvas colour after you import one of the canvas grains. The section 'Creating and saving paintings' in the ArtRage manual has a basic rundown on Canvas grains ( see the subsection 'Creating a new painting' ) which can be handy for getting started as it goes through loading a grain, setting roughness, scale and choosing a colour.

I hope that's of some help.

That is a great resource. Surprised I didn't stumble on it in my search, but must not have used the correct search word. Thank you so much, starting to have more and more fun with Artrage, and looking forward to watercolors.:D

Well dear people, you can just open them up as import image and use them as a backing paper as they are, like I did in my Bonsai tree picture, just use a new layer if you dont want to mess anything up, they are very good, Thanks to Peter W for posting them in Art Supplies......Jack.

Newbie on the forums here. Just a heads-up, I think Japanese paper01.jpg was scanned upside down.

My wife is Japanese & she spots stuff like that when westerners use kanji in artwork, so I'm always looking out for it myself.

These look great! Going to try them when I get home from work. I am always looking for grains to see how the flowing brushes, like the water color and the gloop pen flow into the grain. The results are always intriguing.
