when drawing over a tracing i cannot seem to get a sharp line with the pencil -any ideas would be helpful -my lines are either to thick or i can see the bent pixels.

when drawing over a tracing i cannot seem to get a sharp line with the pencil -any ideas would be helpful -my lines are either to thick or i can see the bent pixels.

Try these pencil setting and see if it helps:

1. Pressure 100%
2. Softness: 0%
3. Tilt Angle: 0%
4. Size: Depending on the painting DPI, try different settings from 5% to 25%. Experiment with the size to get the effect that suits you.
5. Turn "Precise" ON, which means the precise button will show OFF (this always confuses me :)).

Good luck Nightjar.

PS: others may have other suggestions too.

Pencil Drawing and Mark-Making
In this pencil drawing lesson, we'll focus on the importance of mark-making. Mark-making is the expression we use to describe the process of applying pencil to paper. You can improve your pencil drawing skills by carefully considering your pencil and how it hits the page. Controlling and exploiting the possibilities of the mark is an important step in developing as an artist.

Keep Your Pencils Sharp
Use a Variety of Line
Achieving Even Shading
Control the Direction of Marks
