A fast method to paint glossy hair. I used this method in this picture (http://www2.ambientdesign.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=24566&d=1233512031).

Now I try to introduce you to this technique - please excuse my english.

At first, apply a ground-coat in very bright tone.
Second, you have to set parts of shadow in the hair on the wavy areas.
Then, take a bright tone again and paint from parting until the end of the hair fine hanks, so the colours mix. Even in Step 4 do the same, get more and more highlights and set expressive shadows to get a high contrast.
Brighter tones will help to mix the dark colours - don't forget to paint from the top downwarts to get the right strukture.

If this short introduction helps you, please say thanks to gzairborne, who gave the impulse to make it :)

Such a beautiful tutorial - thanks most kindly :D
Am I correct to assume that you used no other tools to blend and used only the pen tool which blends by itself?

Danke, thanks, merci!

Rowena, your're right, the blend effects could be done with feltpen without other tools. In some cases I use the airbrush tool on the hair to, but not for this tutorial or the linked painting.
