View Full Version : Taxco

As I mentioned in WIP, "Taxco is a colonial Mexican mining center known for its silverwork and tourism."

For good or bad, it´s finally done. I hope you find it of interest.

(All AR: basic canvas, oils, palette knife.)

OMG that must have taken forever!!!!! the detail is unreal! love it!:D

12-16-2008, 07:15 PM
It surpasses the promise that it showed in the WIP section. I would have been the first to respond but I got lost in the details and Cartuneman beat me. I was particularly drawn to the small blue facade near the center of the image. Oh, by the way. For future viewers ... go to 150%.
Stunning stunning work Scott.

12-16-2008, 07:33 PM
hehe sorry to beat you robert hehe but man this pic is awsome!!!!!! wish there was a printer that would paint these out on canvas...I want one of these to hang in my home!

Since the descriptive OMG's and WOW's have already been used I am now
attempting to think of an originial phrase to respond to your painting ......
how about GOOD GRIEF ...... this is amazing! The attention to detail work
is exceptional and the scene is artfully breathtaking. Wonderful! :)

12-17-2008, 12:08 AM
Here it is! Even the best picture of it could hardly compete with such a beauty and luminous painted reality!

12-17-2008, 05:33 AM
Thanks so very much cartuneman, Robert, coops, Peter, Mairzie, and Caesar!

Your responses are certainly appreciated! This one took me around 3 weeks to finish, but I think it paid off. Thanks again to all!

ScottF: I went to check your gallery; that's something stunning to look at. You really used the digital oils to the extreme.
I noticed most of your reference pictures are from warm places you should long for. But I heard your place is one of beautiful landscapes; do you think you'll show us one from there any time? My best.

12-17-2008, 07:31 AM
Dear Scott, myohmy! that is certainly one beautiful painting, your hard work paid off, all those little box home piled onto the side of a hill, can feel the sunshine's warmth, great job! and it is even more amazing as Robert said if you can enlarge it, amazing!:)

You can take pride in this one Scott! I honestly can't fathom myself working on something for three weeks, ( with me, more like three hours!) but you have made it pay off. Excellent!

12-17-2008, 08:59 PM
Hi Scott.

It looks like an almost infinite amout of detail. And I guess it took you hours and hours of work. Looks very realistic, while keeping that bright saturated look of your last paintings, what is great.

Congrats mate.

12-18-2008, 12:45 AM
Another STUNNING piece Scott. Well done mate!:D

ScottF, I am amazed. I opened it up and used the magnifying class to view the details up close. What a treat for the eye. It was like experiencing a traditional canvas first from a distance and then from close up. Thank you for the viewing tip, RobertSWade.

holy xmas cookies!!! You are the Master of Light. That has to be the richest AR painting I've seen.

10/10 stars!!!

Excelente trabajo Scott!!!

Many thanks, HotTaco! You´re very kind with your comments!

Y damasocl: siempre me gusta recibir tus comentarios! Muchísimas gracias! (Espero que estés en un PC ajena por visitar familia y/o amigos para las fiestas. :))

I missed this while I was away.

This is breathtaking.

I have no doubt you can make it as an artist if such is your desire.

Great on so many levels. It's not an easy thing to have so much going on and not lose any of it to sloppiness or whatever. This is an ArtRage classic.

02-07-2009, 11:02 AM
yellowhorde: thanks so much!

D Akey: I have no idea how this one made it to this forum. Glad it did so you could take a look. Thanks for your kind comments. They mean a lot! It took me a long time for just the reason you mentioned. After a bit of work, I found myself hurrying along and screwing things up. So I just settled in for the long haul, doing a little bit every day.

As for making it as an artist, I´m just plodding along enjoying what happens. If it´s good, so be it. If not, I´m still having fun.
