View Full Version : My First ArtRage Drawing

When it comes to traditional art media, I enjoy drawing with Prismacolor pencils on matboard panels; I wanted to see if I could duplicate that same look using ArtRage and my Wacom Graphire.

To make the job as easy as I could—since I'm still struggling to get the hang of working with a graphics tablet—I chose a very simple subject, and limited myself to using only the crayon and chalk tools (and the eraser, of course!).

By comparison to one of my "real Prismacolor" pieces, the finished drawing is definitely on the unpolished side, but it came out well enough that I'm feeling a lot more confident in my potential for eventually mastering this whole drawing and painting with a tablet thing.

By the way: the drawing was originally 1200 x 1800 pixels

That's fantastic, MacMs. Welcome to the forum. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
The texture and shading you've put into the drawing is awesome.

Good job! I know what you mean about getting used to the tablet. I got mine two years ago and was so put off by my first experiences with it that it took me a little over a year to really get into learning to work with it. The hardest part for me getting used to drawing off to the side from where I'm looking (big tablet, limited space). Keep at it though and you'll get it.

Hi MacMs,

If you consider that is a simple subject and this is your first attempt, then we are in for some stunning stuff in the future.
A velvety flower and a curved, realistic leaf. Really excellent!

If you are used to Matt Board did you tweak the grain of the paper down to achieve this?

Thank you all so much for the kind words!

In answer to Aged P's question, I had the paper texture set to 58%...
