View Full Version : Theory of life(Life after death ...updated )

06-03-2008, 08:48 AM
Hello everyone!

This is the Face of life ...
One half of the face is happy showing happiness and all the wonderful things of our life and the other half shows sadness and problems that we face in our lives and feel blue.
Both of the halves are equally important since if any one of them is removed(of course everyone will try to remove the sadness part) we don't have a perfect life ......
So its better to face everything that the face of life gives us!!

THe second one is a painting describing the bitter reality.....
"Life n Death are just like two faces of a coin" inseparable ...!!!!

I tried my best to use the colors right ......for happiness i used bright colors and for the sad part dull colors ....

Critics are welcome.

Let me know my mistakes so that i can learn more!

Wonderful paintings and a spot-on philosophy.

John Keats in his famous Odes came to the conclusion that if we didnīt know sadness, we could never know joy.

Thanks Scottf...yes they are quite philosophical!:).

Wow, Shirly, very philosophical and Picasso-like. I enjoy the theme you are working with, the life and death ... it's like the yin and yang of everything... the cycles. I love the colors and how you have broken them out into segments! Great!

Beautiful. I like your take on the theme a lot.

No mistakes that I can see. Calling something as a mistake is relative anyway. You seem to be at a crossroads of sorts with your style.

The idea of life and death could mean things other than the body. Could even pertain to directions in art, changing directions away and to something, etc.

So as you have taken on this theme, it's great. Visually it's nice as well. But you could develop artistically in any number of directions based on what I see, so I have no real comment in that regard.

Keep having fun with it. It seems like a nice springboard for getting at the heart of how you consider things at any given time because you have to encapsulate a concept in a visual way. Technique generally follows one's interests.

Thank you so much GZ and D Akey!!!
glad you all like it.
There are lots more ideas presenting this theme (life n death)....actually i studied about this theme (ying and yang as described in china) few months ago in my literature class(though it was a boring chapter)and thought of making paintings on this theme.
Thanks to everyone again!!!!:):):)

Another one!!!

The colors are gorgeous! :)

Very explicit and just about the perfect choice of saturation for the simple clarity of it, too! But all the funny talk aside, I think it's a privilege for us to have a chance to see such a strong artistic talent- as you exhibit it here- reveal a young mind's visions so enjoyably.

Again this forum has become richer!

Thank you! :)

A bit sad, but nice. The last one is really effective. Maybe You don't know, but the theme of the skull among other objects was very popular in classic art to symbolize how ephemeral is life. :)

The "memento mori"* motif at work again, as Caesar mentioned above. Iīm glad to see you continuing this theme a bit. I like it.

*"remember that you must die"

Great work Shirly, and I like your philosophy. Very well executed!
