We've had some discussions lately about children's art and how they approach it. We've even had some examples. So I had the idea of having a thread just for our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc to display their artistic endeavors. After all ... don't we owe it to the next generations to encourage them? So, I proposed the idea to my grandchildren and they were all over it ... as children are wont to do when presented with a new idea.

My hope is that those of you who have them will encourage your youngsters to post here as well.

So, I'll get the ball rolling by posting what my grandkids did this evening.

(By way of knowing who's who, Makayla is 9, Breanna is 7, and Devon is 6)

This is a wonderful idea. I´ve sent a few of my works to my daughter-in-law to show her the program. I´ve already offered to buy ArtRage2 for my grandson, but I´ll wait a bit--he´s only 18 months old

Devon - Strong and direct! I love them.

Breanna - Beautiful work. Very inspiring and colorful. And I really love your flying one! Very good how you captured something of yourself in your painting.

Makayla - Graceful and wide ranging with the tool possibilities. Excellent feeling.

Yes, I'm having them respond and typing for them. Seems like a good exercise for them in positive feedback and empathy. They are so off and running with this whole idea. They came home from school today and the first thing they wanted to do after completing homework was ArtRage. I'll post what they did today later.

@ D Akey ... I'd like to take credit for art running in the family but, they're my step-grandchildren. But as i'm sure you well know, art can be an aquired talent especially if nurtured early enough.

I just caught this thread and i am TRULY impressed with all the showmanship here, the younger artists have an innocence and freedom about them that sometimes we don't allow ourselves, how wonderful... to be truly free to express whatever, not be inhibited by what a picture SHOULD look like but not really thinking and just DOING. That's what holds the adults back. I say BRAVO to all the young ones (and IQ) that have added to this thread, Bob, I'd say your brood has really experienced most of the tools of the trade and are ready for serious art classes! Gabriele, I think you have great potential... and I love the armadillo the best... we see them here in Florida a lot! Keep going, I don't mind any of these, but I'm afraid to tell my kids about AR as they will take away my tablet like they did Cesare's and I will be left tabletless... but then, I'd be fueling their artistic flames.

Good work to Devon, Breanna, Mikayla, Gabriele, and any others I have missed... i am truly inspired and impressed! I will look for your names in the future under digital art on the web! ;)

Hi Luver and welcome to the forums. There are no age restrictions for posting in any of the galleries. I created Kidz Korner so our children could participate in the creative process. I think your horse is pretty darn good and I love the popcicle. As for help or tips, I think the best advice is to learn the tools of ArtRage and keep creating. You sound very enthusiastic and I hope you'll stick with it. You'll find no shortage of support and help here. Have fun. :)

Hi...

Love the Kidz Corner... Some real future artists in the making there!

The company I work for is working to promote this amazing ArtRage software to school teachers for use with our Tablets, Panel displays and Interactive Whiteboards ... If you are not sure what one of those is - it is basically a 96" Graphics Tablet that hangs on the wall and that is operated by an electromagnetic pen.

There is so little time for really creative activities in many classrooms these days so we are hoping to develop tutorials and guidance that will help teachers understand how to get the best out of this software in a teaching and learning context.

I was wondering how many teachers were active in the ArtRage forum. We would love to share some ideas.

My step-son Yacob (5 years old) started paying attention to ArtRage today, just a few minutes after I dropped by this topic. So I let him have a go, giving him a short intro on how the Wacom worked and how to change tools and colour (left the settings for each tool be, he'll learn them soon enough).

He had a real blast, being both enthusiastic, proud and happy about being allowed to use a "grown up thing", making three images. :)

1st image
He was truly caught when he noticed the joy of mixing colours. It's predominantly yellow, but he sqealed in joy when he noticed he could make orange from red and yellow. :D

2nd image
You can't see it, but there's green there. Way below two other layers of colour, drawn one over each other with charcoal.

3rd image
Made with the roller and pencil. The three swirls at the tops are three moons, the blue is the sky and the yellow-green stuff is ground. Oh, and the brouwninsh stuff is the remnants of a "circle with wheels" that he drew before.

What a great thread... My kids are always messing around on my tablet. By the way, maple syrup doesn't ruin your tablet if you clean it right away.

The fist picture is by my 6 year old son Jaden. I left him alone with artrage (scary thought) for about 45 minutes and he came up with what he called "Monster looking through Snakes with a spider and a cockroach.

The second picture is a painting done by my 4 year old Jackson. He is a die hard Batman and Robin fan. He draws them, colors them, and dresses like them. He currently believes he is batman!

Too Fun!

that is an amazing little painting by your grand daughter Coops. It would hold its own with some of the impressionistic paintings Ive seen for sale for top dollar.

Just to make sure I was correct about impressionism I googled it on old reliable Wikipedia. If this is an example of a different type of art I stand corrected...but it is a very recognizable style to me.

"Characteristics of Impressionist paintings include visible brush strokes, open composition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composition_%28visual_arts%29), emphasis on light in its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), ordinary subject matter, the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles"

Great place for the kid's art Robert.
Lucas, my younger grandson, has only 1year and 3mo old. He did not get used to the tablet pen in the PC. Then he painted an abstract. I did the first strokes to show him the way to go... I than keep changing the pencolor from his hands. Than i took pictures and had the care to put the caps on.

Bravo, Robert, Fantastic idea! All of the images are just beautiful! One of my favorite things is seeing a wall in a school hallway or anywhere else of children's art. When I was in the third grade I drew a picture for my teacher every day. And one of my favorite uncles used to display my little pictures in his home to my great delight, of course! Children's art is delightful, full of life and wonder, and always balanced. ;)

Well, my daughter is almost 28 now, but here are a few things from when she was growing up. The first is a page with some of her sketches. The second and third go together. They were a gift one morning when she cooked me breakfast for Easter and brought it to me in bed as one of her surprises. She used to love to surprise me the way I often did her. More recently, I began sending her copies of the little notes and surprises we used to make for each other. She couldn't believe I still had so many of them and said it was sort of surreal to her, loving the idea all the while. :D And I was like, "Why? Why wouldn't I have them?" Go figure. :p:rolleyes::D Anyhoo, enjoy! Cathy

Hi all, my son Max has been painting today, he's 8 years old and loves painting with Art Rage. The Jpg washed out the texture and softened the colours a bit, i'll see what i can do later with it :)

Ok saved it as a PNG and it looks a little better now.

Top Left is Abstract, Top Right is Ghosts (he was watching casper lol) and bottom left is Swirls.

Enjoy

EDIT: these were all done by Max, with very little instruction from Dad, i only showed him where everything was and he did the rest.

Ths is a real complement to Art Rages Design and Ease of use ;)

Yes i'm a very proud father lol :o :D

These are all delightful. Great new additions Max... very talented artwork. :)
I am sure the adults will enjoy looking at these more often in their new gallery. We can learn a lot from kid's art.

My son Jaden (6 yrs old) Painted this today. I was showing him how to make something a little more real looking with light and dark and blending... I walked away and when I came back this is what he had done... I was a bit impressed but I'm a little biased:)

Great recent posts everyone!

This thread is just great....I love seeing all the young artists and proud relatives supporting them. And having the sticky so we can find it is a very fine idea indeed.

Yesterday I watched a seven year old who has very limited English work his way through artrage stencils, reading the names of all the stencils to choose what he wanted to use. It was a great stimulation to encourage him to read and the program is so well designed he made a very satisfactory painting on his own with little input from adults....I think for him the experience was a lot of fun and very empowering.

(Love your avatar by the way. <3 Naruto, isn't it? I love Naruto. ;D)

I'm 12, and although I used to think my drawings weren't good, I eventually realised, that they were.
Last night, I was in my bed drawing, and I suddenly, out of the blue said, 'Art is everything, and everything is art.'
I hope to see your drawings soon, I'm sure they're wonderful. :)

Don't worry about your age when it comes to art. There's no age too young or too old to learn.

What's important is that you to strive to better yourself everyday.

Within only three to six months of learning art techniques and practicing you can look back to your old work and easily see the progress you make.

My daughter Lilli (6) painted this one. We are learning about ArtRage together and this is her first completed piece. She was a bit disgruntled as I downloaded the free version for her to use on her computer to free up my own. "It's very frustrating mummy that it hasn't got all the cool things you have". Never mind - she managed. I found it interesting that she is much more comfortable with using a mouse than she is with the stylus - a different generation. Relatively, she is doing much better at this than I am...

ETA: I absolutely love all the pictures in this thread. It's a super thread to have. MJy little girl is going to be so proud to see her picture here, and I'm sure your children felt the same :)

My 7 year old daughter is loving the tablet and ArtRage... especially the glitter! She is also learning to draw in layers. I checked, she had a few:)

She did get an art award (medal) at school for her artwork. :D So I am a proud dad.

She sneaked in here last night while I was sleeping and did this. It was on my desktop when I got up this morning.

My 8 year old son was being a handful this afternoon, so to distract him, I let him on my computer (a very rare treat) to see what he'd do with ArtRage. He's autistic and chose the colours and types of glitter (all of them lol). I thought watercolour would be best for him to start off with. He had lots of fun! :)
