This is a great thread that I have just found so I thought I would have a go

DONT LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON MY - Elton John
Don't let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

You Were There - Eric Clapton - Pilgrim

    We made the distance,
    Yeah, we made the day.
    You made all the difference
    'Cause you found the way.

    Without your wisdom
    Lord, where would we be
    Lost in the wilderness,
    Somewhere out at sea.

    But you were there
Through the days of wine and madness,
When I'd always put you down.
    You were there
Through my joys and my sadness
And you never let me down.

    You found the meaning
    And helped me to see
    Where I was going to
    All that I could be.

    Without permission
    You turned the key.
    You climbed the prison wall
    Deep inside of me.

    You were there
Through the days of wine and madness
When I'd turn and put, put you down.
    You were there
Through my joys and my sadness
And you never let me down.

    You were there
Through the days of wine and madness
When I'd turn and put, put you down.
    You were there
Through my joys and my sadness
And you never let me down.
    Let me down.

    You were there.
    You were there.
    You were there.

Photo and poem by me, taken into Artrage and put together.

Was a poem about the passing of my Grandad. Seems to be the appropriate place for it.

    Dark Street

    Dark street.
    Neon light.
    A girl to meet.
    There was a fight.
She was laying there dripping in blood.
    Broken body soaked in mud.
    I touched her cheek.
    It was warm.
    I picked her up.
    Her dress was torn.
I was late tonight of all nights.
    This isn't right.
    Blond hair flowing.
    She was lovely.
    Where was she going.
Was she the one to meet me?
    She sighed.
    Then died.
    My love died.
    Then I cried.

    April showers

This song is very dear to my heart and I can still hear my father singing it. He had a very powerful and beautiful voice.

Life is not a highway strewn with flowers,
Still it holds a goodly share of bliss,
When the sun gives way to April showers,
Here is the point you should never miss.

Though April showers may come your way,
They bring the flowers that bloom in May.
So if it's raining, have no regrets,
Because it isn't raining rain, you know, (It's raining violets,)
And where you see clouds upon the hills,
You soon will see crowds of daffodils,
So keep on looking for a blue bird, And list'ning for his song,
    Whenever April showers come along.

And where you see clouds upon the hills,
You soon will see crowds of daffodils,
So keep on looking for a blue bird, And list'ning for his song,
    Whenever April showers come along.

I hope you enjoy the painting that goes along with it

Some really interesting compositions in this thread ,alas I have enough trouble painting, it would be beyond me to become a poet as well.
Well done everyone , I admire you all.

    Slow Movin Outlaw

This is probably my favorite song written by Willie Nelson. I first heard it when Waylon Jennings put it on an album around 1973. It moved me the first time I heard it, and it still moves me today.

All the old stations are being torn down, and the high flying trains no longer roar.
The floors are all sagging, with boards that are suffering, from not being used anymore.
Things are all changing, the world's rearranging, a time that will soon be no more.
Where has a slow movin', once quick draw outlaw, got to go?

The whiskey that once settled the dust, and tasted so fine, now tastes of pain.
And the memories it once blotted out, come back stronger, more clearly, with each drink you take.
The women that warmed you, once thought so pretty, now look haggard and old.
Where has a slow movin,' once quick draw outlaw, got to go?

The land where I travel, once fashioned with beauty, now stands with scars on her face.
The wide open spaces, are closing in quickly, from the weight of the whole human race.
It's not that I blame them, for claiming her bounty, I just wish they'd taken it slow.
Cause where has a slow movin', once quick draw outlaw, got to go?
Where has a slow movin', once quick draw outlaw got to go?

Lovely as ever, Ms Coops. Nothing like a song from daddy to brighten the day. Your dad must have been a good singer. My dad loved to sing too.

My April showers are in the. . . the shower. I sing torch songs, but the shower makes it hard to keep them lit. Like they say, location, location, location. . .
