Ppi on iPad

Does anyone know what the default dpi is in ArtRage on the IPad is it 75ppi or 300ppi. I would prefer to make my canvas size so I can can print out 8x10

The default dpi for an ArtRage document is 72. If you attempt to print from the ipad you may find that there are dpi settings available in the iPad print settings.

If you want to print out at 10 x 8 inches at 300 dpi, the iPad is not capable of doing this as the maximum document size on the iPad 2 is 2048 x 2048 pixels ( 1440 x 1440 for the iPad 1 ) and a 10 inch tall document is 3000 pixels tall.

For higher resolution printing, I'd recomend recording the painting on the iPad then playing it back at a higher resolution on a desktop version.

I thought I had read somewhere that the Ipad only has a resolution off 72 dpi but wasn't sure. If I send the paintings to the main computer to print I will have better control over dpi for printing, I am thinking by setting the dpi to 240 I should get a good quality 8 x 10 print.

but simply when you start a new painting there is a slider bar that gives the option to record the script. when you are done painting you can email it or send it to itunes and then open it with ar3 on your desktop computer.

Is there any way to resize the ipad art that doesn't have a script file. I would like to print my animal paintings to around 20" on the shortest side. The largest I can print at the moment is 8x10, they are all painted at the max resolution 2048.
I have done most with the script enabled but because there are many thousands of strokes with the fur the script files won't play or are corrupt, they are over 250mb in size.

The size of the script shouldn't prevent them playing. If you Zip one of the script files up and it is less than 10Mb in size (which is possible, text compression can be very good) could you send it to support@artrage.com and we can take a look at it to see what is happening?

There's no way to scale the image larger on the iPad itself, the device doesn't have enough memory to handle huge images.

Sorry Matt but I deleted all the scripts when they wouldn't play, I gave up after an hour of waiting, any of the scripts that were smaller than 50 mb would play, it was just the larger ones that wouldn't load.

The time it took is probably due to the content of the script that made it so large - Because scripts are editable in text format, some of the image content they have to contain such as imported layers can expand to very large size and that can take time to load.
