Help With Scenery?

Heya, i am really wanting to become better at drawing scenery, like buildings and sea shores with crashing waves i have seen a lot of people do it on the forums and am always absolutely amazed how they do it! i'm just wondering if any one could help me out and explain step by step the tools used and how to use them? i have tryed a lot and cant seem to come up with a good way of painting the waves and mixing the colours to make it look right. thanks a lot!
