Good point, Sweedie! Here are two organizations I support and think do a great job:

But they rely on folks remembering the "reason for the season" and all year round! :)

Hi nyquist, thanks for liking it. These are done in Artrage 100% on one layer. I'm so happy to hear that it's little bit like Painter (I never try it and I heard it's difficult to use). That means Artrage is an awesome program for beginner artists like me. :)

You do it all on one layer? Wow, that's fantastic. The quality of your work shows you are no beginner! :)

I work with Painter and one of the things I've noticed about the artwork of ArtRage users is that their paintings seem to have more energy. I think it must be an aspect of the simplicity and ease of use of ArtRage that lends itself to more spontaneity. It's very appealing to me and your work is a great example of that.

Perhaps part of the way to simulate natural media in software is to keep it simple (as the tools in the real world are). Granted there are trade offs, but I think the more like Photoshop that Painter becomes, the less Painterly the resulting work. I'm hoping ArtRage stays on its current course, it's a joy to work with.

To philosophize a little further, I think Painter's current strategy is to tap into the large digital photographer market (both pro and amateur), as opposed to the illustrator/painter market which is a smaller market. There's a place for each of the tools. I do wish Painter were as stable as ArtRage or Photoshop.

Regards,
John

That's very true feeling to me of Artrage. You may be interested in reading this.

And, thanks for the nice comments again. Maybe I've to stop saying I'm a beginner now. I've been learning to paint and draw for 10 months now and all done in Artrage. :)

Hi, i found the Santa-Claus...take coupple photo. :D

I hear that Santa think nowadays to leave reindeers and start to use Ice-Bears,,,never knows. :D

DaK..Thanks. :D

When i was a little boy parents tells me that Santa live some point of Lapland, place named Earhill...Ear arctic hill. I have try to found that place,,,even it cannot found by using gps-technology or google-earth map,,,it is somewhere,,knowbody knows,,or how it says in english. :D

But i heard the story how Santa comes to Santa.
It happens long time ago. Santa was small 5 years young boy, lives Lapland with his family. One cold winter-night his small sister get ill and parents must to go to nearest village with little sister,,Santa stay at home. They never comes back,,,cold night,,,smelt river,,only starts light.,,,Santa loose his family. After that village peopple take care of Santa,,,and Santa start to make wood-toys to gift those who help him,,,and Santa give all toys at night,,,and stay unknown person to all. Santa get innovation some day,,,he think that must make toys all children round of the world,,,but problem was that how to move so fast place to place at one night. So he found reindeer,,,but first he notice that reindeers dont work with him without using red clothes,,,so after that Santa start to use red clothes.
White bear Santa has been allways. :D

Commercial advertisment. :)

Now the Santa-story is on the movie.

Sorry that page is that Santa-Claus language. :D

Have a nice gifth-time,,,and peace all.

That looks like a great movie. Very beautiful and magical.

I really love the animated storyboards (animatics). It's a very simple style but the information that the artist includes is enough to really get the idea.

Music is really nice too. I would love to listen to the soundtrack sometime if it all sounds like the samples in the trailer.

Anyway, your stuff:

I love Santa on the bears! Hahaha.

I must say that I have never before heard anyone claim Santa Claus as being a hometown boy who made good. Hahah.

But your claim is probably the most well founded. I've never known anybody in Finland before either.

Thanks for your contributions, Master Elf. Time to sit in Santa's Lapland and ask for some presents.

Yeah, seems to always happen that way; maybe he has some weird winter allergies that trigger dandruff? ;)

And thanks for the color suggestion. Might use oils with lots of thinner. Or maybe markers.

@ Enchanter:

Frosty!

I like it all, but that mountain in the background really sings. Must be that you have really absorbed the lessons of all your mountain work of late.

Waiting for the sun to hit the foreground. Apparently it's in the shadow of one of those peaks.

Very vroad range of textures and kinds of objects in this one. Very rich feeling for that reason. :D :D :D

In this time of the year when Christians celebrate the universal love and acceptance that their religion preaches I thought I would share these words with this eclectic and peaceful audience:

The Birthday Party - by Peter Mayer

"I saw the Buddha open up his eyes
One Sunday morning
Say he’s invited to a party for Christ
And he must be going
He heaved himself up with a groan, standing slowly
Came down those steps of stone, and asked me
Where to catch the next train to Jerusalem

In India he sang with Hindus as they prayed
By the Ganges when the dawn came
Near Arabia, he saw Mohammed on the train
And asked if he would join him
Passing those teeming towns, they talked for hours
All about the truth and how it’s discovered
Trading bits of news and stories from these thousand years

Saying “Great idea, this party for Jesus”
Then Mohammed said “Hey Buddha, it’s great to see ya”

Finding the place with the help of Abraham
Waving from the doorway
They greeted faces from a thousand Holy Lands
Present day and always
Everybody talking, laughing, fiercely debating
Saying how desperately the world is changing
Then somebody lit the two-thousand candles

And they all toasted Jesus, born in a stable
Then Jesus said “Hey, let’s not be such strangers” "

Peace on Earth. Let us all pray for it in our own way.

Well, I want to make a glass painting. I have no clue about glass painting, but it's sort of like homework. When you paint something on glass, do you have to paint on the back of the glass, so that the front would be the image? That would be hard to do, because I paint using lots of layers, so if I painted like that on the back of the glass, only the first layer would appear on the front.

suzi, that's very lovely design and using that color palette for Christmas. Like the golden star on the Christmas tree. :)

Lee, thanks for the Christmas greeting. Isn't that wonderful to see all these Christmas paintings in one place. You will gradually feel that strong atmosphere and the magic. I imagined the Christmas tree painting you did was in your warm and cozy and joyful home in the holiday. lovely. :)

sandy, i like this snowflake stencils you painted on blackground. just like i imagine i am walking in the night of Christmas with all these different shapes of snowflakes falling from the sky and seeing the making my snowman. :)

sally, what a colorful Christmas gifts on the sleigh. i like your color choices. :)

monicka, thanks for the greeting. this is a very lovely and touchy Christmas card. Santa Claus is telling story and the little girl is so sweet and fall asleep on him. This one looks really like dream come true. :)

You all really make my wish come true by seeing all these creative Christmas paintings and are coming from around the world. Isn't that wonderful? Hope to see more. :)

I agree with Dany Pai, that painting is glorious, you are so good at these
dreamy scenes and your portraits of course.
Two of my children are'nt here at the moment ones in Namibia with his girlfriend and the other's in Denver Colorado with her fiance. So I've been sending my new year snowman, to friends and family.
So happy new year to you all here.
I took advantage of layers here, I drew my holly and resized in layer options to put one on hat and one on tummy, also a layer for snow, so I could have a little snow storm.

I like the festive and joyful mood of this thread very much. I therefore resumed and added my last one thereabout.

It quite curious though, to realize that Christmas is by far no more relation with Christ birth, and at least the universal message it could represent whatever the faith or skepticism, rather with trees popping with color balls, Saint Nicholas turned into a sort of kids' super-Hero and some smiling snowmen.
So the symbols and signs and elements ornating and integrating the amtmosphere and mood of our fundamental joy and hope which come also from other happy celebrations (Solstice, miracles, celtic traditions etc.) became the almost exclusive and certainly the main image and (hardly) the message of this Holiday (no more holy evidently).

It's a little bit like the End of Ramadan were celebrated with images of Sheherazade or characters out of her tales offering succulent food and beverage after the sunset or the Pesach with the Red Sea Fisher splitting the waves and coming to take chocolate fish to kids. :D
