Tried out a couple of new techniques in this one. It was touch and go for awhile, but I learned a bit doing it.

barnburner,
So heartfelt is the title and so inspirational is this painting. The
artful embrace of sky, earth and water invites the heart to open
to it's invitation of hope. So pure, pristene and without dread or
concern is this scene, as if a new beginning is to be found here,
discounting all fears, a rebirth in this cleansing lake of renewal,
washed clean in preparation for a new journey of discovery.
Poetic, touching, uplifting and most beautifully painted! :) :) :)

The looming mountains can give 2 moods, one is being closed in another is being protected. Well done.:)

If I ever learn to paint half as well as you write, I'm going to be rich and retire to Montana! :):)
Thank you so much.

Beautiful Mike. We all need a swim in this lake, and never lose it in our hearts.;):):):):):)

Well done, dear Barnburner! You're amassing quite a lot of evolutions by testing. You got a number of great effects in here! I see it just a little dark, but it's probably this screen, the worst I have. Later on I'll check on better ones I've got ...

Great overall piece, but you really seem to have nailed the water and the reflections!

Sandy - Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. :)

Caesar - Thanks. The water is indeed darker than I intended.

Scott - Many thanks. The water took several attempts, and actually came out darker than I intended. However, I really liked how it turned out on the last attempt, so I went with the "It it ain't broke - don't fix it" theme. :D
In this painting, I actually used a stencil (along with reducing the opacity on that layer) for the "ripple" effect. There was nothing that I could not have duplicated by hand, it just saved me a bunch of time.
