View Full Version : AR3 Pencil Tool

I mostly paint abstracts and am not a competent representational artist. But I tried the AR pencil tool to draw from a reference photo of the house I grew up in as a little boy. I felt for someone who almost never makes representational images it wasn't all that bad. The pencil tools made it easier than I would have expected. They are so vastly improved in AR3. I think everyone will be blown away with what they can do with both the new pencil and ink pen tools. .

Except for the stripes in the foreground, I find this a really nice drawing. very well done in my opinion.

Hanzz, thanks for the good feedback on the foreground - I do get your drift.:)
Rose, you know I'm the sentimental type, and of course there is chocolate to soothe those tears. :):):)

That's an excellent sketch Byron, and it's wonderful to see another side of your artistic self, one that i reckon you ought to pursue further perhaps.
Cool House and a Cool Sketch my friend :D

The house is great. Good to see you trying other things with your amazing talent. The perspective seems really spot on to me. I really like the realistic drawing you have made with the pencil. I would have guessed it was a real pencil sketch that had been scanned.

I am with gz. It's great Byron. Just unexpected.... so monochromatic.... :D:D.

Rose - thanks again. I'll see if I can dig up a bulldozer. :D:)
Albert/Belvrog: Thanks so much. I think you can hand a lot of praise to the program. There wasn't any digital touch up or tweaking - that's exactly how the pencil laid down the digital graphite. I did use the blender to smudge a little here and there just like you would with a real pencil. Seems like AR3 delivers a real-world simulation pretty effectively.
Belvrog: yes, monochromatic. That deserves an lol. :D
Thanks, all, again for the kind comments. :)

Byron, if you can draw that well, even with cyber assistance, you don't need lessons. Just do more of it.
Very well said Docsmith, couldn't agree more.
This is a fantastic drawing Byron, it reminds me of the drawn renderings for property. I love the little detail of the bin lid not being put on properly on one of the trashcans... makes the building 'lived in' :)

Byron - this is quite good - and yes - such a departure. Some nice laughs in this thread too. This really is a quite nice drawing. It may seem funny to say, but it's methodical like your abstracts. They often appear spontaneous, but I see a method to your madness. ;):):)
