Rather than make a new post each time I have something that I would like to display in the Gallery, I decided to make a single post that I'll add to as time goes on. We'll see how that works.

Here's the first drawing I made with ArtCrash 2: http://static.flickr.com/46/176553924_7ab23d8538_o.jpg

And this is the one that I just finished:

http://static.flickr.com/63/180984788_424f36f686_o.jpg

Both drawings were created for the weekly "Illustration Friday" thing... The topic this week was "sticky". The text was added in Photoshop. Everything else from initial sketch to the final was made using ArtRage 2.

EDIT: I changed the picture on this post to a link because I have something new to add and I figure there's no point in people having to wait for old stuff to load. If you haven't already seen the picture from this post, then by all means, follow the link.

*laugh* Oops. No, sorry. A friend of mine does an occasional "binge" art project that he calls an Art Crash and shortly before writing this post the paintings I bought from his last "Crash" arrived so it was at the top of my mind.

Gita & Ka: Thanks! I look forward to becoming more used to the program.

This brought a laugh from the QA desk here at Ambient this morning. I love it =)

Oh whew. Thanks for that - We take crashes very seriously. If you find a crash, our Quality Assurance guy as to sit in the corner and doesn't get his allowance.

Collin,

Excellent work.

You have mentioned this "Illustration Friday" thing a couple of times. Is this a forum section here? If not it sounds like something fun to do.

Yeah, I should have linked to it. Sorry about that. It's at http://www.illustrationfriday.com and the person who runs the site posts a new topic every week on Friday. Then, anyone who wants to participate has until the following Thursday to illustrate the topic and submit a link to what they made. It's pretty fun and good practice for working under a deadline.

Here's my contribution to Illustration Friday ( http://illustrationfriday.com/ ) for this week although I won't actually be posting it until tomorrow. The topic was "Skyline":

Larger version here: http://static.flickr.com/49/187695907_bb7e8a82dc_o.jpg

It was made using both Photoshop CS2 and ArtRage 2, although the majority of my time was spent in AR2. Tomorrow I also plan on posting a step-by-step (somewhat) on my website that shows the basics of how I made it. If you can't wait, you can get the gist of it by visiting my "IF" photo set : http://flickr.com/photos/collinb/sets/72057594049349368/ : and poking about.

OK Collin, you convinced me! I will make a serious attempt to sign up to Flickr and the other site.

Funny yes, but that is such a professional piece of work I love it even more for the skill.

Here's the image breakdown that I said I would link to. It's a bit rambly, but then most things I write are.

The step-by-step description of the process is really well done.

Glad I'm living in Florida and not in the Big City!

I tried out the "Glitter gun fantazy thread" and the results are here: http://www2.ambientdesign.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=11713#11713

You only really need to sign up to flickr if you want to use them for image hosting. You can view stuff there for free. As for Illustration Friday, there's really nothing to sign up for. Just take the topic of the week this week is "sacrifice" illustrate it and submit a link to the result at their site.

Wow. Thanks! Having seen some of your work that's quite a compliment.

Thanks! Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not. This one just went together so well. Although I'm considering doing a second version.

AndyRage: Thanks, but I think I can do it better. The problem is switching from a creative mindset to a technical mindset in order to properly document the process.

emremeydan: Thank you.

ingie01: It's a start, but it can be shown better. If I make the second version that I have in mind I'll try to do a better job and it may really show off one of the advantages to working with layers. We'll see.

florida girl: I'm still surprised by how well he came together. He's almost exactly like I had in mind when I started.
